Why we have Pearl in our pack

Benefits of dog adoption

Our Crazy Post Retirement Wanderings Hiking and Triking

Benefits of dog adoption

Pearl keeps us active. By meeting her needs for activity, we also meet our needs for physical activity, on walks, hikes, bike rides, and other ways.

Dogs increase our biodiversity and thereby reduce our likelihood of getting sick.

Having a dog around makes us happier and less likely to go into depression. Looking at our dog increased our Oxytocin.

Polls say that people who own dogs are more likely to be socially interacted with, and relationship with a dog has all the emotional benefits of human interaction.

Dog ownership will generally lower your stress, regarless of your situation. If you are lucky enough to be able to take your dog to work, this will lower your stress level at work. We're retired, and we have very little stress, but Pearl generally helps keep it low.

If you have children, having them around dogs can reduce their allergies as they get older by enriching their biome. I know this to be true, because I had a dog during the first 4 years of my life, and I don't appear to have any allergies.
