Santa Catalina mountains west and north hiking trails

west and north trails

Trails discussion

The north trails are all dog friendly. The west trails are dog friendly too except for Romero and parts of sutherland trails in catalina state park. Unfortunately these trails all require about an hour one way drive to the trailhead from a point in the center of Tucson. The trails on the northeast side, east of Oracle are only accessed by forest roads and backroads, so that's a negative, besides the long drive from Tucson.

The trails are worth the drive, though, and they are less used so you can definitely avoid the crowds on these trails.
