Backpacking Adventure - Day three part eight - Feb 27 - At the stream We arrived at the stream, and took off our packs and looked around, and decided to set up camp. The campsite seemed to meet all of our needs in terms of close to the trail, access to the stream to filter water, and had the bonus that we could enjoy the sounds of the stream splashing on the rocks making it's burbling sounds. We could see signs that when there was the heavy rains in October when it dropped 5 inches in a matter of a few hours that Romero Canyon was severely flooded, with dead bushes and trees wrapped around the trees near the stream, and lots of stumps, tree limbs, bushes, and other various debris from the flood scattered everywhere. Of course, there was also rocks in all sizes scattered everywhere including the stream in all sizes from fine grained sand to boulders larger than a large truck. We arrived at the campsite at about 5:00PM, so the shadows were lengthening, and sunlight only had about an hour to go before it began to darken as the sun passed over the horizon.
