Backpacking Adventure - Day four part two - Feb 28 - Hiking down Romero Canyon We hiked continuously from a little after 5, not stopping to rest, because it was cool, and we were fresh and unfatigued from a nights rest. Our eyes had adjusted to complete darkness, but the sunlight was coming up over the mountain, despite the cloudiness that was rolling over the mountain, keeping it nice and cool for hiking in the process. We had descended about 1,000 feet of elevation since we started hiking, and were now about a mile above the Romero pools. We were starting to get our first glimpses of Romero canyon in the morning light. We were starting to get a little fatigued after over 3 hours of hiking from our previous nights' campsite, although we pressed forward knowing that we had to cover 6.2 miles that day. But we were thankful for the cloud cover keeping it cool, and we were a little worried that it might rain on us. Wanting to get to the trailhead before it started raining if it was going to rain that day.
