Lemmon Ridge - hiking southwest

Lemmon Ridge - Hiking southwest down the ridge - Part 2

If you continue past the top of the ski lifts to the southwest on trail #5, you will go around the southeast side of the summit of Mount Lemmon, and you will arrive at the trailhead for Trail #12, Mount Lemmon Lookout trail, which goes down the South face of mount Lemmon, and connects with the Wilderness of Rocks trail #44. Mount Lemmon Lookout trail starts at Mount Lemmon Lookout, which is a forest fire lookout that was built many years ago to detect and locate forest fires in the area.

The lookout is mounted on top of Mount Lemmon "Rock", which is a large rock structure on the south face of Mount Lemmon.

When you are standing near Mount lemmon Rock lookout, the views are pretty good in the south and east directions, as you can see from the pictures.

There is quite a bit of evidence of a forest fire sometime in the not too distant past up on Mount Lemmon.

The trail is what looks like an old forest road, with dual tire tracks for most of Lemmon Ridge.
