Hike Moonraker Bay and visit Sea Ranch Chapel We were staying on the coast of California, at Sea Ranch, a small community just south of Gualala, California, and about an hour south of Mendocino, and it's about 100 miles north of San Francisco. There are about 30 miles or more of trails in the hills and coast areas of Sea Ranch. There is a bay in the south end of Sea Ranch called Moonraker bay. It is one of about half a dozen beautiful bays down the coast of Sea Ranch. We walked down from the public access parking on highway 1, and walked north for about half a mile along the coast, and then returned. There were lots of beautiful views out to the ocean along the coastline cliff trails. There is always a nice breeze blowing off the pacific. After we got back to the parking lot off highway 1, we drove up the highway a couple of miles north, and then pulled into the drive up to the road up to the firestation and chapel, and we parked at the chapel and walked over to take pictures of the chapel. We took pictures of the chapel and walked around the grounds. It is a beautiful custom structure that appears to have been built by the hand of an artisan. It was a beautiful day that was in the lower 60's and partly cloudy with light winds. The chapel had lots of pretty custom colored glass windows. The chapel looks very much like a hobbit town structure. It was very much like an artwork, rather than a building. |
