Blue Horizon trail hike near Florence, Oregon - part 3

There is a network of very nice equestrian trails on Cape mountain, and most of the trails do not have much of a view of the ocean or beach.

However, Blue Horizon is one of those few trails on the west side of Cape mountain, and it does have a view of the ocean. The other trail with Ocean view is Nelson ridge.

The trailhead is horse creek trailhead located along NF-58 in the Siuslaw national forest.

When I hiked this trail it was a nice cool day, in the lower 60's with a nice breeze, about perfect for hiking.

Pearl and I hiked down for about two hours, and were feeling hungry, so we stopped and had lunch at a bench along the trail. The bench where we stopped has a beautiful view down to the beach and ocean through the trees.

The trail goes steadily lower in elevation until you reach the bench, and so, going back, it's all uphill. Fortunately, it's not a lot of elevation change, so it's not a bad hike.

The distance is only about 4 miles round trip from horse creek trailhead, so it's a nice hike that you can do in a short afternoon hike.

The trail for the most part is in extremely good shape and very well maintained. There are maps at every junction. Somebody worked very hard to make this a nice trail. It's wide and just very well constructed.

All in all it was a very pleasant hike, I would recommend it to anybody who wants to do hikes through the forest.

Pearl and I only saw a couple people along the way, but then it was a Thursday, and I suppose the traffic on the trail increases on the weekend days.
